About Us

Vision

A Bow Valley where everyone is celebrated and able to show up as their full selves.

Mission

To create a community for 2SLGBTQIA+ Canmore residents and visitors where they feel safe, accepted and welcome.

Values

Committed to Our Community

Our commitment to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community guides every decision we make. We work to ensure people in the Bow Valley feel seen, supported, and able to live as their authentic selves. We prioritize meaningful action, include allies, act with integrity, and take responsibility for our words and actions—learning openly when we make mistakes.

Inspiring Change

We inspire and educate allies to stand with our community and take action. We advocate boldly against injustice, discrimination, and hate, and use our relationships and platforms to challenge systems of harm. Our work is values-driven, even when it is uncomfortable, and grounded in sharing knowledge and resources that strengthen our community.

Here to Stay

We are committed to Canmore Pride’s long-term sustainability beyond any individual or board. We prioritize steady, thoughtful growth over scale, invest in long-term relationships, and welcome diverse ways of achieving our goals. We value lived experience and recognize that knowledge comes in many forms.

Radiant Joy

We believe joy and pride are powerful responses to shame and oppression. We create inclusive experiences that reflect many forms of joy, considering accessibility, neurodiversity, and age. Through creativity, play, and celebration, we uplift one another and reclaim joy together.

Celebrating Authenticity

We affirm that there is no single way to be queer. We celebrate individuality, honour vulnerability, and create spaces where people can show up fully—with all emotions, not just happiness. Authentic self-expression is central to belonging.

Compassion in Action

We lead with care, kindness, and respect. We do not tolerate hate or performative action, and we encourage dialogue rooted in curiosity and compassion. We prioritize education over condemnation while centring the wellbeing of those most impacted.

Thriving Together

We believe we are stronger together. We collaborate with community partners to amplify diverse voices, centre intersectionality, and foster meaningful connection. We strive to create inclusive, welcoming spaces and recognize that safety looks different for everyone.
